09/12/08 - Today we had the Conley boys from West Virginia aboard for a day inshore. The primary target was to be cobia and we started the morning off catching bait. After catching some spots and croakers, we moved to check buoys. Even though the water wasnt very clear we still stuck itout and checked all the buoys, never seeing a fish. Next, we went to the tower where the jacks were also absent. We did have a nice spanish hooked up on the jig, but it pulled off at the boat. After a few minutes, we got a call from the waverunner who was catching nice sized spinner sharks pretty consistently on the tower reef, so we went that way. For the next couple hours, we caught more than our share of spinner sharks, killing a nice 50# class one, releasing two for release citations, and releasing several others. |
