Finally BEAUTIFUL WEATHER GREAT FISHING
Finally BEAUTIFUL WEATHER GREAT FISHING

On Friday, we had Ramon Kent, Paul Jarosh, and their usual gang along for the day offshore. Beautiful weather, calm seas, pretty blue 75 degree water. We started off looking for some blackfins at the rock. Not much happening there. We did catch some nice mahi there at the rock first thing. Didnt see much for the blackfins. Caught a couple jacks and alberts on the jig. Then we worked in towards the change. We started at the change from 73 degree to 75 degree water at around the 200 line in 25 fathoms. We pushed down the change and found mahi the whole way down. We found some decent mahi fishing with nice gaffers. The mahi had been picked over pretty hard but we still found good bites. Finished off the day at the 100 line catching a blackfin in 18 fathoms.

Saturday, we had Brad Gonsolin along for the day. We started off early and picked up the mahi right where we left off. Had a good catch of mahi early and plenty of bites. Some real nice gaffers mixed in with one or two of them going over 30 pounds. We worked all arounbd the rockpile with a scattered mahi bite the whole way. Stopped at the rock but there was a million boats there and we tried jigging for just a brief second before moving on. We trolled inside picking at the mahi the whole way. At around noon, Brad and his gang decided to try their luck with cobia fishing. We ran down to Ocracoke inlet and immediately started seeing a handful of cobias. In short order we saw 6 and caught one cobia around 45 pounds. All in al it was a great two days of fishing with plenty of bites and some nice catches.

We will be in Hatteras for one more month before returning to Virginia Beach for the summer. The fishing is really great down in Hatteras right now and we have plenty of dates available, including next Saturday. I dont know how I am unbooked for the saturday of memorial day weekend, but Im open for it. If anyones interested, call me.
