Virginia Beach Fishing Report, Great Inshore Cobia Fishing Citations

08/10 - Today we had Greg Galvin and family in town for a day inshore. We started off trolling and catching blues and some spanish which made the kids happy. Next we moved up the beach a bit and looked for cobias. I have been looking at the oceanfront everyday now for a month and figured we would go up into the bay and chase a cobia. Good call. Plenty of cobias up in the bay. Singles, pairs, and packs- we saw plenty and we were fortunate enough to catch some too. The best part was that these fish were all caught sight casting. It is very exciting to cast to these fish and watch them chase down your baits. We had a couple citations today and we had a hook pull on a VERY large 100# class fish. There was lots of cobias up there and even though it was a long run from Rudee, it was well worth it. We made way back towards the bridge tunnel in the afternoon and trolled up some more blues and spanish before making our way home. It was a very good day of fishing. The cobia fishing is really just getting started for us out of Rudee. We can expect the fishing for these cobias to get better and better as we get into september. We have plenty of availability.
