Virginia Beach Fishing Report, Half Day inshore cobias

On Monday, we had a half day booked for the morning. Looking at conditions, it didnt look good. The weather was beautiful, but sundays weather had cooled the water off in near the beach. We trolled east and caught plenty of bluefish, but this group wanted to catch something bigger and we couldnt find a mackerel anywhere. The winds had caused upwelling and there was really cold water all inshore. Finally, a couple miles out off the beach we found a change and the water cleared up and went to 74 degrees. We trolled there for a while and found some nicer bluefish, a handful of mackerel and we set up chum. After an hour or so we had a bite and caught a nice 35 pound cobia on a dead bait. A little boy about 7 years old caught the fish. Then we went around for a while looking for cobias to sightcast to. We caught another fish a little nicer than the first one at 44# and saw some others.
