Virginia Beach Fishing Report, Matador Offshore Hatteras Trolling Bottomfishing

Matador Offshore Hatteras Trolling Bottomfishing

On Thursday, we had great weather and were not booked, so we did a make up trip. We started off trolling around the 230 and 280 rocks and the troll bite was VERY slow with only a few bites from yellowfin tunas to be had by the hatteras fleet. We improvised a bit and moved over the reef and jigged which turned out to be a good decision. We caught all we wanted to catch on jigs. The amberjacks and bonitas were thick but we also caught some large sharks inclunding an 8 foot long sand tiger shark. We bottomfished and caught sea bass when we could get away from the dogfish.
