Virginia Beach Fishing Report, Now booking Virginia summer charters

I just wanted to update everyone and let them know we are currently beginning to book our summer charter trips from Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach. We will be fishing out of Odens dock in Hatteras until mid june and will be fishing from Virginia Beach from mid june through septemeber. Our current rates have not been updated on this website yet because of rising fuel costs. We'd like to keep our rates as low as possible, however fuel costs will dictate our summer rates. As far as a fishing report, last week the tuna fishing was very good for blackfins and yellowfins on friday at the 230 rocks. Most all boats that fished there had very good catches of tuna. Small ballyhoos behind sea witches with light leader have been the ticket for the tunas. Also the boats flying kites with yummy birds did very well on the tunas there. Some especially large blackfins have been around.

On saturday we had a lot of bites and our catch consisted mostly of dolphin. We had some tuna bites up at the 230 but they were all small blackfins. We also loaded up on jacks with jigs.

Theres been scattered bites from wahoos and even a few billfish around. The tuna fishing should stay consistent and good on the days when conditions are right for it and the mahi fishing should continue to get better each passing day.

The big news inshore is that cobias have been caught out of Hatteras. Last weekend the first cobia was brought in to Hatteras and the word is that plenty of cobias are on their way. These fish are here early and the water is too cold for them to go north right now so we may very likely see a repeat of the insane action we saw last year where some days we saw HUNDREDS of cobias. We have recently added a custom casting platform to the bow of matador specifically for sightcasting cobias. We are the ONLY charter boat with a set up like this and we can get you on the cobias.
