Virginia Beach Cobia Fishing Inshore
Virginia Beach Cobia Fishing Inshore

06/08 - We had Caesar Mamplata and his 15 year old nephew from Miami aboard for a half day. Our usual mate Ben was out fishing from his own boat and so we had Chuck from the Rudee Angler working for us. I asked Caesar what he wanted to fish for and he said "something big". We were gonna catch some mackerels and bluefish then fish for sharks, but I talked to a buddy and he said the cobia fishing was good so off we went. We ran up to the spot and there were cobia EVERYWHERE. The wind had changed from the east which made the fish less aggressive on the bite, but nonetheless we still saw over 20 cobias cruising the surface in just under two hours. Luckily, we were able to coax a couple in to biting. We ended up seeing a bunch and catching a couple. Caesar's nephew was very excited about his cobia that he caught and was very proudly showing off his catch at the dock.
