Fishing Reports > Good nearshore catch

On Thursday we had an offshore/nearshore charter with my friend Greg Allen and his family. Greg used to fish with me a good bit but he moved away to Oklahoma a couple years back and I was happy he was in town and we decided to go fishing. We had small kids and first timers on board and the goal was just to get some bites. We started out on the edge where some yellowfins were being caught, but with the crew we had, I didnt think we could handle catching a bunch of yellowfin tuna so we moved on. Our first bite of the day was a nice mako shark that we saw swimming on the surface. We stopped the boat and pitched a bait at it and it ate pretty easily. Nice mako, legal size, so in the box it went. After that, we trolled around in the 2 fathom range and had plenty of bites from false albacore and chopper bluefish. It was pretty decent fishing and good to see my old friend.
