AGAIN on Friday huge pile of tunas and mahi

On friday we went back to the rocks where we left off. We had "Hillbilly" Bill Betts, Barb Brookens, and a group from Delaware down. They wanted some of the yellowfins we had last week, but the weather was not the type that gives up yellowfins. Yellowfins get scarce in hatteras on a south wind. They like the current to slow down and a cool north wind. Nonetheless, we had beautiful weather and we could make a catch of tuna and mahi. We started up on the rocks jigging again. The tuna fishing wasnt as fast and furious as the day before but we had a good steady pick of blackfins, bonitas, and jacks, and even one time while we were jigging we had a brief visit from a school of mahi. We kept at it until noon and the group was tired of jigging so we went back to try and find the weedline from the day before. We found it, but it had been fished pretty hard and though we were having some bites, it wasnt nearly as good as the day before. We managed to scrap out about 20 blackfins and 10 mahi for them for the box though and we are just really happy to see such great fishing and mahi showing up so early. his spring has been really great fishing so far and we just hope it sticks around.
