August Matador Charters Fishing Update

Sorry I have not been able to put daily reports up. We have a new boat and we have had a lot of work getting everything together with that and have been very busy. Here's a little update on the fishing. Inshore, the fishing has been excellent. Bluefish and sharks have been plentiful and have made for some very nice catches. The shark fishing is mostly catch and release fishing, but we are allowed to keep one 54'' or longer shark for the table. We have been catching mostly blacktip sharks, spinner sharks, and sharpnose sharks, and occasionally we catch a hammerhead shark, tiger shark, or bull shark. On days where the water is clear, the flounder fishing has been fantastic. We have had some 50 fish days on flounder, which is exceptional. Spadefish action is slowing down a bit as it usually does this time of year. Triggerfish are around any structure. Cobias have begun to show up around the oceanfront and we have caught a couple of them. Offshore, amberjacks have been the most reliable bite. They are big, fight like mad, and eat well. There have been some marlin, a few mahi, and one or two yellowfins and wahoos around as well, but the conditions have been a bit off for them. Hopefully that will be changing soon. Even though the conditions have been a bit off, we have been making the most of it and are still coming home with nice catches every day. Not the box full of tuna we would like to have every day, but good catches none the less.
