Matador Charters Fishing Report

On sunday we had Andy Kopassis and some of his business associates aboard for a tuna fishing trip. They specifically wanted a chance at a bigeye so we planned the trip to leave late and come back late so we could go to the canyon and get in on the late evening bite. This year we have seen more bigeyes than anyone can ever remember seeing and the fishing for them has been pretty consistent and good at the norfolk canyon and washington canyon. We left in completely flat seas and made our way out to the canyon. Within a few minutes we hooked a white marlin on the flat line and we quickly caught that fish. We trolled around for another hour and got hit by a nice bigeye. We settled in and an hour later we had the harpoon in it and spent another hour getting the fish in the boat, boxed and iced, and getting our spread back out. We set the spread back out and had another white marlin come in on us but we had a hard time hooking it on the heavy tuna tackle. Then we had another bigeye bite, which pulled off after a few minutes and we ended the evening with catching a nice yellowfin. We made the long ride home in the dark with boxes full and unloaded and turned in our citations for our white marlin and the 215 pound bigeye the next moring. The bigeyes are here and should continue to be here for a couple weeks. We have plenty of availability to go fish for bigeyes on an offshore fishing trip. Give us a call at 7577496008 and we will get you booked.
