Fishing Reports > Inshore Spanish Mackerel Virginia Beach

06/26 - On Friday, we had the Brock family in town all the way from Indiana for an inshore trip. The plan was to drift and chum for sharks and then to troll for spanish mackerel and bluefish. They had three little boys that all wanted to crank on some fish. When we set up for shark fishing, they didnt quite have their sea legs and we had to get out of there before the action with the sharks got fired up. We went in close to the beach and started trolling and the mackerel were there. We had a nice catch of mackerel and one of the boys, Jacob, even caught a citation 4 pound spanish mackerel. He was really proud of his fish, is really excited to get his trophy in the mail at the end of the year, and was even bragging to his dad "you never caught a trophy fish before!". The Brock family had a good time and it was good seeing the kids leave happy like that.
