Now fishing in HATTERAS

The Fantastic fishing we experienced in Virginia Beach this winter is now starting to wind down. We had an incredible winter season in Virginia Beach that saw nearly two months of fishing with bluefin tuna up to 300 pounds mixed in with our stripers. The striper fishing was also great with good numbers of large fish. Those fish have now moved on though and the tunas have gone south towards Hatteras and the stripers are in their usual wintering grounds too far offshore to legally persue. So we have now shifted gears and are settling into our spring fishing in Hatteras. This year we are equipped with a green stick to better chase tunas. The greenstick system is very effective at catching all types of tunas, even on days when conventional ballyhoo trolling wont get bites. The bite on the greenstick is awesome and tunas come flying out of the water chasing the bait. We are also set up with traditional trolling gear as well as jigging equipment. We are completely rigged up for tuna fishing. The fishing in hatteras is off to a promising start. Bluefins have made several appearances and should become more consistent as each cold front traps them against the ege of the gulf stream. Blackfins are holding in their usual spots and are available mostly on the jig. Yellowfin tunas are making sporadic appearances. There have even been scattered wahoos and dolphins and two or three blue marlins have been seen and caught in february. The usual reef species are around and bottomfishing in legal areas can produce tilefish, grouper, sea bass, and triggerfish. Altogether the offshore scene in Hatteras offers some excellent opportunities this time of year and its a nearby escape to warm weather and blue water fishing. Give us a call today and get your day booked. Thanks Capt. Jake 757-749-6008
