Offshore report mahis marlins and bottomfish

The last couple offshore trips have been very similar so I am going to lump their reports in together as one. The fishing offshore has changed and we are seeing the fishing turn more from tuna fishing to marlin and mahi fishing. Warm water summer conditions are moving in and though there are still some tunas around, they are much more difficult to target as the water warms. When the water warms we are able to target marlin and mahi much more consistently. Each day the catch of mahi and marlin has gotten consistently better with white and blue marlins and there are also increasing amounts of mahi mahi moving in each day. This will be the pattern for the next several weeks. Also there are plenty of bottomfish around. We have had some very nice catches of bottomfish when we take a short break from trolling around. Most of our fishing lately has occurred around the canyon to the south and most of the action on the marlins has been in around 30 fathoms.
