Friday and saturday we had Ramon Kent, Paul Jarosh, Uncle Don, Todd Abe, and one of my regular crews aboard for an overnight trip offshore. We started on a wreck catching some sea bass. Then we went and continued the day of bottom fishing and caught a load of tiles and black sea bass. It was nonstop bites on the bottom fishing and we filled the box up pretty quickly. By evening we went into the canyon and were gonna do something else. We set up and started chunking but the sharks would not leave us alone. We wanted to try to get a tuna bite but every time we got set up we hooked an 8 or 10 foot shark. late in the evening a storm came through that delayed fishing for a couple hours. everyone slept for a while and the sun came up we set up to troll. Trolling we immediately caught a white marlin. Then another. Then we worked into the canyon and found some lobster pots where we caught a load of mahi. We called it a day about 11 o clock and began heading home. On the way into the dock I saw a nice cobia inshore. I threw the jig at it and added a 50# cobia to the mix. Great trip and a great crew. Those overnight trips sure do give us a lot of fishing time and we usually come in with a box full. These guys had all they wanted.
