SATURDAY ROCKFISH AND TUNA

Monday January 14th 2013 - 15:00 AM EST
Added by: Jake Hiles

On Saturday we had an all day trip. We were socked in with the fog. It was calm and warm with no wind which this time of year equals fog. There were a ton of boats out and many of them did not have radar and were running around in the fog which is just flat out dangerous. We spent a great deal of the day trying to stay away from the large concentrations of boats and did some tuna fishing. We released a few stripers as we were over the 3 mile line but about noon we did have a big tuna bite. We fought the fish for about 2 hours before the leader chafed through and the fish got away. Looked 2 be around 250-300 pounds. About 3pm the stripers turned on a couple miles away and we went over and caught a couple real quick to end the day.
