Virginia Beach Striper Fishing Charter

On Halloween saturday, we had Bruce Roberts and his family from Pennsylvania aboard for an early season rockfish charter. After a long stretch of poor weather conditions, finally we had sunny skies, light winds, light seas, and good fishing conditions and Bruce and family were lucky enough to have their charter booked on such a pretty day. The water is still a bit warm and the big cow stripers have not moved in from New England yet, but we still have plenty of schoolie stripers here to play with. We worked the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel with light tackle casting and jigging gear. The bite was a bit off when we arrived, but when the tide shifted a bit the fishing picked up and we had an easy 16 fish limit of 20-24'' rockfish to bring home for the table. We also released about a dozen or so after catching our limit and we had several bites that pulled the hook or just did not come tight. These schoolie rockfish are a blast on light tackle and we caught somewhere around thirty stripers before making our way back to rudee inlet. Early season Virginia Beach striper fishing can still be very productive, even before the larger Rockfish show up from up north. We have already begun booking our Matador winter striper / rockfish / striped bass charter season here in Virginia Beach. The fish will get larger with each passing cold front and by early december, I expect the striper fishing to be in full force. Normally, the striper fishing will be exceptional into February and we will be here and ready. Around Thanksgiving, we will begin fishing for the big rockfish using eels, which is very productive for catching trophy sized stripers. During last year's rockfish season, we caught over 60 rockfish eligible for a Virginia citation of 44'' long or 40# and we expect to catch quite a few again this year. That's a lot of trophy stripers. Call me at 757-749-6008 to book your Virginia Beach rockfish charter today and we will get you set up.
